Overview
The Milano is a small wood heater with a cooktop on top and a splash back behind it. It is a best seller for Euro Fireplaces in Europe and Australia, and heats an area of up to 140 m² despite its size.
Why choose the Milano Cooktop
- Cook on it. The standard Milano has a small cooktop, enough for a kettle or a pot, with a splash back supplied.
- Small footprint. At 376 mm wide and 356 mm deep it fits where a full-size heater will not.
- Easy to clean. A riddle grate shakes the ash into a large removable ash tray, which the supplier says needs emptying about once a week.
- No fan, no power. A double skin draws cool air in at the sides, warms it and sends it back out the top, so heat spreads through the house without a noisy fan.
- Simple controls. Separate primary and secondary air controls set the burn.

Before you buy
- The price is for the heater. It needs a flue kit: choose one when you add the heater to your cart, or have your installer supply it. The hearth and installation are quoted separately.
- It needs at least 4 m of flue from the top of the heater, fitted by a licensed installer. Some states also need a certificate of compliance for the installation.
- Burn seasoned hardwood only, with a moisture content under 25%.
- The flue leaves from the rear of this model. Ask us for the clearances and hearth size before you plan where it will go.

FAQs
Can I cook on it?
Yes. The Milano Cooktop has a small cooktop on top, with a splash back behind it.
Does it need a flue?
Yes. The flue connects to the heater and runs straight up through the ceiling. Allow at least 4 m of flue above the heater. A licensed installer must fit it.
Does it need power or a fan?
No. It heats by natural convection: cool air is drawn into a double skin at the sides, warmed, and released from the top. There is no fan and nothing to plug in.
What wood should I burn?
Seasoned hardwood only. The moisture content should be under 25%, and 12 to 20% is best. Smaller logs burn cleaner, longer and hotter than large ones. Never burn treated or painted timber, driftwood or building offcuts.
Should I shut it down to burn overnight?
Euro Fireplaces advises against it. Shutting a heater down overnight makes a cold, smouldering fire with high emissions and creosote in the flue. These heaters light quickly, and a heat bank or stone cladding keeps giving off warmth after the fire has gone out.
Who can install it?
A licensed installer. The warranty only applies when the heater is installed to the Euro Fireplaces guidelines by a qualified installer, and some states need a certificate of compliance for the installation.
What is the warranty?
Euro Fireplaces covers the firebox for 5 years from the date of purchase. Linings and seals are covered for 3 months, and the glass until the first burn. It applies to the original buyer when the heater is installed by a qualified installer and run to the instructions with seasoned, untreated wood.
How often should the flue be cleaned?
Have the flue cleaned professionally once a year, ideally just before winter. Damage from a flue fire or a blocked flue is not covered by the warranty.
