Overview
The Alvesta is the smaller steel heater in the Falun group, with an open log store under the firebox. The all-steel body starts spreading heat within about 20 minutes of lighting, which the supplier says makes it a good fit for a holiday home.
Why choose the Alvesta
- Quick to warm up. The steel body begins distributing heat within about 20 minutes of lighting.
- Small footprint. It is 549 mm wide and 390 mm deep, with a log store in the base.
- One slider. A single lever controls both the primary and secondary air, so it is simple to run.
- No fan, no power. A double skin draws cool air in at the sides, warms it and sends it back out the top, so heat spreads through the house without a noisy fan.
- Fresh air from outside. A 100 mm intake at the rear can be connected to outside air, so the fire does not use the warm air in the room. This suits well sealed, energy efficient homes.
- Optional heat bank. A 10 kg heat bank can be added to hold warmth for longer.

Before you buy
- The price is for the heater. It needs a flue kit: choose one when you add the heater to your cart, or have your installer supply it. The hearth and installation are quoted separately.
- It needs at least 4 m of flue from the top of the heater, fitted by a licensed installer. Some states also need a certificate of compliance for the installation.

FAQs
Does it need a flue?
Yes. The flue connects to the heater and runs straight up through the ceiling. Allow at least 4 m of flue above the heater. A licensed installer must fit it.
Does it need power or a fan?
No. It heats by natural convection: cool air is drawn into a double skin at the sides, warmed, and released from the top. There is no fan and nothing to plug in.
Can it take its air from outside?
Yes. A 100 mm intake at the rear can be connected to outside air through a wall or the floor. The fire then uses outside air instead of the warm air in your room, which suits well sealed homes.
What is a heat bank?
A heat bank is extra heat-storing material, such as refractory concrete panels or magnesite bricks, fitted inside the heater. It soaks up heat while the fire burns and releases it for hours afterwards. It is an optional extra on many Euro Fireplaces heaters and built into some.
What wood should I burn?
Seasoned hardwood only. The moisture content should be under 25%, and 12 to 20% is best. Smaller logs burn cleaner, longer and hotter than large ones. Never burn treated or painted timber, driftwood or building offcuts.
Should I shut it down to burn overnight?
Euro Fireplaces advises against it. Shutting a heater down overnight makes a cold, smouldering fire with high emissions and creosote in the flue. These heaters light quickly, and a heat bank or stone cladding keeps giving off warmth after the fire has gone out.
Who can install it?
A licensed installer. The warranty only applies when the heater is installed to the Euro Fireplaces guidelines by a qualified installer, and some states need a certificate of compliance for the installation.
What is the warranty?
Euro Fireplaces covers the firebox for 5 years from the date of purchase. Linings and seals are covered for 3 months, and the glass until the first burn. It applies to the original buyer when the heater is installed by a qualified installer and run to the instructions with seasoned, untreated wood.
