Do electric fireplaces produce real flames?
Most electric fireplaces create a flame effect using lighting and visual technology. Their optional heater operates separately from the flame display.
Can I use an electric fireplace without the heat?
Many models allow flame-only operation, so you can enjoy the appearance throughout the year. Check the controls and features of the model you choose.
Do electric fireplaces need a chimney or flue?
Electric fireplaces do not burn fuel and do not require a combustion flue. They still need the ventilation openings, installation clearances and electrical supply specified by the manufacturer.
Can an electric fireplace plug into a normal power point?
Some models are supplied for plug-in operation; others require hardwiring or a particular circuit. Check the Australian model’s installation manual before purchase. Electrical modifications should be assessed by an electrician.

Are electric fireplaces expensive to run?
Running costs depend on power consumption, heat settings, usage time and your electricity tariff. Flame-only operation generally uses less electricity than running the heater.
How do I estimate an electric fireplace’s running cost?
Multiply its power consumption in kilowatts by your electricity rate per kilowatt-hour and operating time. For example, a 2 kW heater at $0.30 per kWh costs approximately $0.60 for an hour of continuous heating.
Do electric fireplaces make noise?
You may hear the heater fan or flame-effect mechanism. Noise varies by model and operating setting, so ask about the specific fireplace if quiet operation is a priority.
Do all electric fireplaces have app or remote control?
No. Remote controls, thermostats, timers and app connectivity vary by model. Check the product’s listed features rather than assuming every fireplace offers the same controls.
